Fine Art Framing
We provide custom conservation framing for your artwork. Our hand-made picture frames house a range of mounting styles including hinge/float-mounting of drawings, prints, textiles and three-dimensional objects as well as dry-mounting of photographic prints and works on paper. We also specialise in hand-made tray frames (also known as float or box frames) for the museum-quality presentation of paintings as well.
Conservation framing is when artworks or objects are framed using practices and materials that are archival and therefore protect and conserve your works. Conservation framing also focuses on allowing organic materials, ie. paper, fabrics etc. room and freedom to contract and expand so they are not stressed by rigid binding or mounting and avoid the risk of the artwork or object tearing or splitting because the framing has restricted the art from being able to naturally expand or contract.
The processes we practice for conservation framing are reversible and the glues, adhesives removable meaning you can detach the artwork later without causing stress or endangering the work.
We use only conservation grade materials such as rice paper hinges. Our mat boards are neutral PH, 100% rag, acid free, buffered with calcium carbonate and fade, scuff and bleed resistant.
Our frames are custom-made onsite so we can tailor any job exactly to match your specifications.
See our FAQs for information on types of mounting and caring for your frame.
